In this section I am going to be talking about what is a network in ICT. Networks allow two or more computers to communicate with each other.

 

Computers can be connected using different mediums, such as:

• Ethernet cable

• Satellite

• Infrared

• Lasers

• Wireless transmissions

 

There are different methods of connecting computers too. Different network topologies can be employed. If you are interested look up the following types:

Computers aren’t the only things that connect to a network. Other devices such as mobile phones, game consoles and PDAs can also work on networks.
