The legailities this section will be talking about is the data protection act, the comupter misuse act, the copyright, design and patents act, regulation of investigatory powers act, electrontic communications act and the freedom of information act. 

 

When computers became popular activities took place that could be considered criminal. However, despite proof of the activity it was hard to prosecute people as there was no law that said you couldn’t do it.

 

And then the 3 big laws were created in the UK:

• Data Protection Act 1984 (updated in 1998)

• Copyright, Design and Patents Act 1989

• Computer Misuse Act 1990
